Company History
Robert & Karen Mollet set up shop in 1968 at S.W. 8th. & Oak Street in downtown Portland, Oregon. Robert purchased two presses: a Davidson 500 and a Multilith 1850. In addition to those, he acquired a NuArc Flat Top platemaker, a Chandler-Price hydraulic cutter, a Davidson folder, and a paper drill and went to work.
After moving into this prime location, Robert walked around the block and discovered that right behind his business, wall-to-wall was the old-time Portland firm Shannon & Co. specializing in blueprints, camera work, copying and the sale of graphic arts supplies. Shannon had a 20x24 Brown camera and one of the best cameramen in the business. It didn't take Robert long to make a deal and a two-way door between each shop to set-up his own camera department without spending a dime for new equipment. No camera-equipped shop in town got better or faster service.
After several years at that location, Robert & Karen realized the business was outgrowing its current space and so they looked towards the purchase of their own building. The move enabled Mollet Printing to improve efficiency, expand services to customers and increase space for administrative and record keeping.
Several years later the business was again outgrowing its current space. A building was located in March of 2001 and up and running by the end of May. The larger building has allowed Mollet Printing to expand its services even further. A new Heidelberg Speedmaster 6-Color SM-74 with a coater was added during the move and a new Heidelberg 2-Color SM-52 was added last year.
