Mollet continues its sustainability commitment after being first in Portland to earn chain-of-custody certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the organization devoted to responsible management of world forests. Mollet's green practices include:
- Using advanced filmless workflow in over 99% of projects, nearly eliminating chemical waste.
- Processing film for silver recovery and recycling outdated Mylar films.
- Treating water with alcohol-free reverse osmosis, another first in the industry.
- Promoting use of vegetable based inks that contain limited ozone-damaging petroleum distillates and volatile organic compounds (VOCs.
- Encouraging use of environmentally friendly FSC certified and recycled papers.
- Ensure energy efficiency with computer controlled HVAC in plant.
- Re-mixing and re-purposing unused inks.
- Reducing usage of fluorescent bulbs with parabolic reflectors in office lighting.
- Cleaning up presses with Kimberly Clark towels, specifically designed for reduced environmental impact.
- Using recycled printer/copier paper exclusively in office.
- Shipping all wood pallets and crating off-cuts to suppliers for recycling.
- Separating and recycling both hard and soft plastic containers, steel strapping, printing plates, production paper trimming and other waste.
